Covered sand (coated sand) is a type of sand where the surface is coated with a layer of solid resin film sand or core sand. There are two coating processes: the cold method and the thermal method. In the cold method, the resin is dissolved in ethanol, and uropine is added during the sand mixing process to evaporate the sand on the sand surface. In the thermal method, the sand is preheated to a certain temperature, the resin is added to melt, stirred on the sand surface, and an aqueous solution and lubricant are added before cooling, crushing, and screening the coated sand. This coated sand is used for casting steel parts and cast iron parts.

Advantages of the coated sand castings

1. High precision: The casting made with coated sand exhibits high precision and good surface quality, reducing the likelihood of defects.

2. Good thermal stability: Coated sand can endure high temperatures without deformation or rupture, ensuring the stability of the casting's size and shape.

3. Strong durability: The special treatment of coated sand enhances its thermal stability and compressive strength, allowing for multiple reuses and significant production cost reduction.

4. Wide range of applications: Coated sand is suitable for casting various metals like iron, steel, copper, aluminum, as well as non-metals like ceramics and glass, offering great flexibility.
